D ortha Mae (Bell) Wikle, 94, of Sabetha, KS died Saturday, December 29, 2018 at the Apostolic Christian Home.

Mrs. Wikle was born in Powhattan, Kansas on March 7, 1924 to Ralph and Josephine (Krebs) Bell. She was one of six children born to this union. Dortha grew up in the Powhattan, Fairview and Sabetha area. She attended Pleasant Dale School and graduated from Fairview High School. She was a homemaker and ran a beauty shop out of their home for many years. They farmed south of Fairview for many years until Leslie’s death. She moved to the Apostolic Christian apartments in 2013.

She was united in marriage to Leslie Wikle on March 12, 1944 in Sabetha, Kansas. Two daughters and one son were born to this union. Dortha was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sabetha, and a member of the Rebekah Lodge and the Quindecim club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leslie; a son, Cedric; a brother, Raymond Bell; a sister, Donna Vermillion; and a grandson, Mark Werner.

She is survived by two sisters, Dora Davis of Apache Junction, Arizona, and Betty Hoffman of Clarinda, Iowa; a brother, Art Bell of St. Joseph, Missouri; two daughters, Ireta Werner of Topeka, Kansas, and Bonnie Mendenhall of Colorado Springs, Colorado; three grandchildren, Chris Snyder of Pueblo, Colorado, Jared Mendenhall of Santa Cruz, California, and Kim Forsythe of Northpole, Alaska; and five great-grandchildren, Ashley Runstadler, Alexa Sandoval, Jaden Mendenhall, Asher Mendenhall, and Serena Mendenhall; and two great-great grandchildren, Skyler Runstadler and Rylie Runstadler.

Funeral services will be Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at Popkess Mortuary in Sabetha, KS. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. prior to service time at the funeral home. Interment will be made at the Isley Cemetery following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nemaha County Home Health & Hospice, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, KS 66534.

Family would like to invite friends to join them for a meal before the service at the First United Methodist Church in Sabetha at 11:30 a.m.
