Ezra Glen Meyer, 90, of Sabetha died Monday, December 21, 2020, at the Apostolic Christian Home in Sabetha, Kansas.
Ezra was born in rural Berwick, Kansas on February 1, 1930, the son of Louis Sr. and Sarah (Hartter) Meyer. He attended Berwick Center School and the Apostolic Christian Church in Bern, Kansas. In his younger years he went by the name Glen. Glen enjoyed helping with the chores on his family's farm. He worked as a hired hand for his brothers, brothers in law, neighbors and other friends. When Glen was old enough to drive a horse, he was the water boy for the threshing crew.
Ezra Glen lived on the farm with his parents, and then later moved to Sabetha. Before Ezra entered the Apostolic Christian Home, he lived in a house on Virginia Street, then to an apartment at The Apostolic Village.
Ezra always enjoyed spending time with his family on the holidays. Thanksgiving was a favorite because the turkey leg was always reserved for him.
Ezra was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Leroy (Pearl) Meyer, Mildred (Alvin) Strahm, Lena (Oscar) Strahm, Velmer (Vila) Meyer, Earl Meyer, Alberdena (David) Vancil, Louis (Mavis) Meyer, Fremond (Ruth) Meyer, Leora (Les) Baumgartner, and Rosalene (Howard) Brunner.
Ezra is survived by a sister in law, Ruth Meyer, many nieces and nephews and their families.
Ezra will lie in state on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday, December 23, 2020 from 8:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. at the Popkess Mortuary Chapel in Sabetha Kansas.
A Private Meyer Family Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the Bern Apostolic Christian Church. Interment will be made at the Sabetha Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian Home or the Bern Apostolic Christian Church, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, Kansas 66534.
