Kevin Strahm

September 18, 1960 — September 29, 2020

K evin Ray Strahm, 60, of Osborne, Kansas formerly of Sabetha, Kansas passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at the Hiawatha Community Hospital.

Kevin was born in Sabetha, Kansas on September 18, 1960, the son of Marvin and Peggy (Beckham) Strahm. Kevin attended grade school in Sabetha until fourth grade. In 1971, Kevin’s family moved to Osborne, Kansas where he graduated from Osborne High School in 1979. He was a gifted athlete who excelled especially in basketball. Kevin’s love of basketball led him to a scholarship at Dodge City Junior College in Dodge City, Kansas, and then to Ole Miss University in Oxford, Mississippi.

Kevin had a genuine love for people and would help when the situation arose. He held different jobs in the Sabetha, Topeka, Greensburg, and Kinsley, Kansas area over the years. One of Kevin’s greatest satisfactions was the six months he lived in New Orleans and helped with the Hurricane Katrina clean up.  In Kevin's many travels he always sought out a place to worship and hear God's word.

Kevin entered Highland Nursing Home in February of 2020.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father, Marvin Strahm in 2005.

Kevin is survived by his mother, Peggy Strahm of Osborne, KS; his sister, Tammy (Doug) Spears of Osborne, KS; his brother, Curtis (Claudia) Strahm of Kansas City, MO; and his nieces and nephews, Alisha Schwin and family, Jessica Hindman and family, Devin Spears, Nicole Strahm, and Joshua Strahm.

A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, October 2, 2020 at the Sabetha Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Apostolic Christian World Relief for the Hospital Lumiere in Bonne Fin, Haiti, sent in care of Popkess Mortuary, 823 Virginia Street, Sabetha, KS 66534.
