Margaret Casey

M argaret E. Casey, 94, passed away at Life Care of Seneca, Kansas on Friday, July 16, 2021.  Margaret was born the oldest child of Frank M. and Mary J. (Fuqua) Dickey on June 16, 1927 in Kansas City, Missouri.

Margaret was a graduate of Quenemo High School and from Grace Hospital School of Nursing in Hutchinson, Kansas as a Cadet Nurse.  She married Cletus W. Casey on September 8, 1950 in Topeka, Kansas.

Margaret was a retired Registered Nurse. She worked at Onaga Community Hospital for 25 years.  Prior to that, she worked at the VA Hospital in Topeka, Kansas.  Being a woman of strong faith, Margaret was a member of Corning United Methodist Church and Lowman’s United Methodist Church in Topeka, Kansas.  She volunteered at the Mission in North Topeka for 20 years. She was a member of the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary.  She enjoyed crafts, ceramics, crochet, and knitting.  She also drew and painted.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant brother; and a sister, Helen Oshel.  She is survived by her children, Ron (Cathy) Casey of McCracken, Kansas; Deb (Frank) Rivard of Stockbridge, Michigan; and Gael (Lee) Sanders of Baileyville, Kansas; a sister, Rosalyn Goodman, of Topeka, Kansas; a brother, Howard (Martha) Dickey, of Richmond, Kansas; Margaret’s pride and joy were her grandchildren, Megan Sanders of Seoul, South Korea; Devin (Hannah) Sanders of Baileyville, Kansas; Alex, Catherine, and John Casey of McCracken, Kansas; and great-grandchildren, Kaleah, Kamden, and Briggs Sanders of Baileyville, Kansas.

M emorial service will be held Friday, July 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Corning, Kansas.  Inurnment will follow at the Corning Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Trinity United Methodist Church of Corning, Kansas sent in care of the Popkess Memorial Chapel, 814 Castle, Seneca, Kansas 66538.
